Current Openings

Teacher Assistants will assist the teaching staff under the direction and Supervision of the Lead Teacher/Director and Teacher. The primary focus of the Assistant is to support the classroom teachers in providing a healthy, safe, and age appropriate environment and
program where young children have the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate curriculum weekly, large and small group activities, developing social and emotional awareness.

  • Provide guidance and coaching to co-teachers in all areas building strengths and addressing weaknesses.

  • Communicate with parents daily to share their child’s latest achievements building reciprocal relationships.

  • Complete assessments with knowledge of ECERS, DRDP, ASQ, ASQSE, and align to individualized goals for school readiness.

  • Monitor health and safety of all children adhering to all Title 22 Regulations, NAEYC Best Practice, and CDC, DPH guidelines for COVID-19 safety protocol.

  • Daily cleaning.

  • Friday washes all toys and shelves.

Lead Teacher/Site Supervisor skills

  • 2 -year experience as a Lead Teacher or Assistant Director in a licensed center- based program.

  • BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.

  • Site Supervisor permit issued by CCTC.

  • 3 to 4 years’ experience in teaching preschool-age children and planning developmentally appropriate curriculum.

  • Basic computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to pass a criminal background check.

  • CPR/First aid certification.

  • Health and Nutrition Certificate

  • TB clearance and physical health screening upon hire.

  • COVID-19 vaccination highly recommended or weekly COVID-19 testing.

  • Ability to safely lift at least 30 lbs. multiple times throughout the day, kneel/sit on the floor throughout the day, and safely reach a child that is 20-30 feet away within seconds, among other essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 12 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD) including core courses: Child Growth and Development, Child/Family and Community, Programs and Curriculum.

  • Qualify for or hold an Associate Teacher permit issued by State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. 1 year experience working in a licensed child care facility.

  • All applicants must be able to pass the fingerprinting and criminal background check prior to employment and initial presence at the center.

  • Ability to pass a physical exam (including submission of negative TB test and verification of immunizations. Must be submitted within 7 days of start date.

  • Must have certification or be willing to take and pass Child and Adult CPR, First Aid, Health and Safety.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, visually scan environment to insure child safety indoors and outdoors, sit, and use hands.

  • Daily set up of large motor equipment outdoors.

  • Use of office machines and facility equipment.

  • Ability to life and carry up to 40 pounds.

  • Must process effective verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must be flexible to work with ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic children, families, college students and staff.
